People Helping People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded by Sharon Bareis in 2005. After 30 years of working in human services, and troubled by the growing number of disabled adults she saw "falling through the cracks" of current service systems, Sharon concluded that additional approaches were needed to address these problems. She saw too many adults with disabilities whose quality of life was getting worse, not better (cycling downward, not upward). PHP was founded to help set the quality of life for adults with disabilities on an upward cycle.
At PHP, our goal is to not give up on solving a client's challenging problem, but to come up with a creative solution to improve that clients quality of life. Our response to the challenging and seemingly intransigent problems that clients sometimes present is to think creatively - "outside the box" - and to work persistently and collaboratively with the client and other community resources untill effective solutions are on track. Executive Director: Sharon Bareis Board of Directors: Monte Akers Sharon Bareis Oren Glick, Ph.D. Cynthia Hanna Nancy Hawkins-Gurney, M.S. Anne O'Malley, Attorney . |
